nah, I think the closest thing is that raiders sometimes like to use really long diacritic sequences or RTL/LTR control blocks to try and slow down browsers, but it's never really affected me.

yeah, unfortunately even the more "basic" unicode ones (like the smiley characters or diamonds) technically fall under the emoji block, if I'm not mistaken. amusingly, the range has expanded since I launched the site, so I think some new emoji bypass the filter: 🫟
so yeah, it could use some work (^^;)
it'll be nice if I can allow all of them but, I do wonder if they'll end up looking bad at small sizes, and I'd prefer not to introduce uneven line spacing if I can help it
