I think it's an exaggeration of a phenomenon that did actually exist to some extent around a decade ago, that sort of stereotypically millennial hipster restaurant.
it feels a little odd to rail against now, so many years later. some of the observations are amusing in their specificity (for example, the use of labels like "handhelds" and "sharables" on the menu), but generally I don't think it's deserving of vitriol
