they're not giga predatory like most apex predators and yet distant enough from humans that most their mythological appearances have to do with "ooo I saw a fox in the forest underneath the blood moon while a kaiju was whispering lullabies into my ears! bad omen for the next corn crop..." and whatnots. fox are like... hide. like umm. they hide? no umm no I meann uhh people hunt them for their hides?
